Flow Mobile

Newquay based Flow Mobile, has been delivering enterprise level software solutions using agile techniques since 2013. Their impressive client list includes; Santander Bank, Sky TV and Vodafone.

The Opportunity

The business’ latest venture, the Pentire Project, enables retailers to promote offers and services to consumers in the vicinity. Through the app, small businesses can directly engage with consumers by offering relevant incentives.  These are triggered by the consumer’s location and personal preferences, creating a user-friendly interface which enhances the customer’s shopping experience with local, relevant information.

The Solution – Upskilling and Project Management Support

Flow Mobile engaged with Superfast Business Cornwall when they were planning the Pentire Project. Flow Mobile Director, Kevin Bath worked with Digital Business Enabler, Steve Edwards to scope out the project and Steve offered impartial advice and a critical review of the project.

ERDF Grant Funding for Business Growth

As the project presented a clear opportunity for the business to expand and create markets outside of Cornwall, Steve supported the business in their application for grant funding to part-fund the development.

Steve Edwards, said:

“We are delighted to have supported Flow Mobile to reach new markets using new technology. The application of this innovative software not only connects businesses directly with the consumer but gives Flow Mobile an opportunity to open-up a market with small independent businesses. The Pentire Project holds its own within the company’s enviable portfolio.”

The company’s senior management also attended an upskilling Digital Masterclass on the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) where one to one expert advice was readily available.

In addition to the delivery of a new-to-market software that has potential to be applied further afield than Cornwall, this European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) part-funded project has also enabled the business to expand its team with the creation of three skilled roles.

The Impact for Flow Mobile

On the support Flow Mobile has received from Superfast Business Cornwall, Kevin said:

“The funding we have secured allowed our project to progress from a proposal to development stage whilst creating sustainable jobs within our business model.”
