We’ve supported over 300 ambitious Cornish businesses

Steve Edwards with Riventa

Superfast Business Cornwall is delighted to announce the progress the project is making to deliver digital support to businesses in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. The 12-hour programme helps businesses to understand, adopt and exploit digital technology for growth.

So far 200 ambitious high growth businesses have completed the programme with another 105 currently receiving a programme of support that begins with digital workshops and is followed by 1-2-1 guidance from a Digital Business Adviser.

Rob Barber from Newquay Activity Centre said of the support

“Working with Superfast Business Cornwall has really fast tracked us to where we need to be.  There is such a wealth of knowledge in the team and we have truly benefited from that knowledge as well as their experience and resources.”

The support includes a free website review which is proving very popular and has been taken up by more than 150 businesses.  The comprehensive review, using specialist analytical software, results in a detailed report with practical recommendations which a Digital Business Adviser explains in the context of the business.

140 clients have received additional support from a private sector ICT specialist either 1-2-1 or as part of a Digital Masterclass on a range of topics from WordPress or GDPR to Digital Marketing and Moving to the Cloud.

The project has a grant funding pot of £746,111 of this £538,000 has already been allocated to 36 business with a further £220,000 of applications in pipeline.

Businesses start their journey by attending a Technology for Business growth workshop giving an overview of the digital technologies available to streamline business processes, reach new markets, create new products and grow.

Terry Stanton from Positivactivity said of his experience
“Very informative workshop that helped me focus on how I will integrate IT into the business.  Importantly delivered by people who know the subject.”

34 businesses have taken advantage of our events specifically for Women in Business created as part of our commitment to encourage more women into technology.

Our digital conference in October was very well attended with over 120 business people coming to hear from our keynote speakers, attend workshops and learn about the application of new technologies from local suppliers.   Comments included:

I was blown away by the quality of this event. It far exceeded my expectations.”
Helen Jones, Jones Can Do
